Billy R. Swaim, 77, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 in his home.

He was a warehouse and motor vehicle operator at Fort Chaffee, a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Van Buren, a Van Buren City Alderman for 24 years and a member of the Advertising and Promotion Commission. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a 1953 graduate of Van Buren High School and a lifelong resident of the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Sheldon and Vera Swaim and two brothers, David and Paul Swaim.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; one daughter Nancy Card and her husband Bob of Van Buren one granddaughter, Emily Riddle of Van Buren; one brother Don Swaim and his wife Alice of Van Buren; a sister-in-law, Johnnie Swaim of Van Buren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial in Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Hawkins, Bruce Copeland, Larry Etheridge, Vernon Russell, Ed Bickford and Kenneth Fry. Honorary pallbearers will be Van Buren City Aldermen, Johnny Ragsdale, David Moore, Tenna Sagley, Donna Parker and Mary Ann Dodd; also Fred Williams, Rusty Meyers and Gene Bell.
