Thomas Brown Swearingen, 85 years old, 1717 Dechard Street died Thursday, March 15, 1973 in a local hospital.

He was born in the Cove community in Arkansas on February 26, 1887, the son of R. E. and Grace LaRue Swearingen, was a member of the First Baptist church and a retired farmer.

Survivors are a daughter; a son; a brother; six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Ocker Memorial chapel. Pastor of the First Baptist church, James Dwiggins officiated. Burial was in Gracelawn cemetery.

Mrs. Grace Swearingen, 76 years old, of 1717 Dechard, Van Buren, Arkansas died unexpectedly Sunday morning, January 24, 1965. She had been in her usual state of good health and was visiting on the telephone with her daughter when she became ill and died before they could reach the hospital with her.

She had been a resident of Crawford county since 1897. On July 30 1905 she was married to Thomas Brown Swearingen at Cove City where they made their home until five years ago when they moved to Van Buren. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors besides her husband, Thomas Brown Swearingen (now deceased March 15, 1973); one son; one daughter, Lena; two brothers, Ernest and Glen; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of First Baptist church. Charles Graves, the pastor, was assisted by Oscar Flannagan. Burial directed by Ocker Funeral home was in Gracelawn Cemetery.
