Joe Ed Smith, 62, of Van Buren died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a former resident of Fayetteville where he retired as a financial officer in construction. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren. He attended the Kemper Military Academy and was a graduate of the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. He was an Army veteran.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel of Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his former wife, Barbara Smith; one daughter, Jennifer Smith of Fayetteville; two sons, Steven and Scott Smith, both of Fayetteville; his mother, Dema Smith of Van Buren; one sister, Carolyn Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Lyndsey, Brennan and Elizabeth Smith, all of Fayetteville.
Pallbearers will be James Crowley, Darral Sparkman, Ben Smith, Bill Vickery, Daniel Rupp and Terry Lynch.
