Eldon
September 15, 1921 - October 17, 2001
Eldon Stephens, 80, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at a local hospital.
He was a retired supervisor for the Union Pacific Oil Company in Long Beach, Calif., a member of the Army Air Corps, member of the American Legion Ellig-Stouffer Post No. 31, and a retired supervisor for the Crawford County Road Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, May E. Stephens.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Grimmett of Van Buren; three sons, James E. Stephens of Dyer, Joseph K. Stephens of Mulberry and Gerry D. Stephens of Van Buren; three sisters, Nellie Tomblin of Apple Valley, Calif., Marie Warsh of Westminister, Calif., and Norma Gell of Torrence, Calif.; one brother, John Stephens Jr. of Malvern; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Oct. 20 at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Sonny Grimmett, Stephen Locklear, Terry Ray, Brian Locklear, Stan Grimmett and Johnny Stephens.
