October 18, 1947 - February 6, 2020
Susan Elaine Turner Sims, 72, of Hot Springs went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2020. She was born October 18, 1947 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was a 1965 graduate of Hot Springs High School. She married William C. Sims, “Bill”, on December 27, 1966. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Lake Ouachita Baptist Church. She spent her life in service to the Lord and to others, especially children, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and AWANAS for more than half of her lifetime. She most recently worked as a Paraprofessional in the Special Education Department of Mt. Ida High School. She was known for her loving smile and witty fun loving spirit. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Susan is survived by her husband William C. Sims of Mt. Ida; daughter Laura Ann Buxton of Bixby, Oklahoma; son Jeffrey Scott Sims (Tammy) of Vernal, Utah; brothers George Turner (Mary) of Ingleside, Texas, and Jeff Turner (Jindy) of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren Kayla Buxton of Mid-West City, Oklahoma, Mitch Buxton of Bixby, Oklahoma, Kelsey, Travis, and Kyle Sims of Vernal, Utah; sisters-in-law Leah Turner of Hot Springs and Fran Sims of Breckenridge, Texas; brother-in-law Ken Sims (Burla) of Little Rock; five cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents T.J. and Elizabeth Turner of Hot Springs; brothers Steve and Larry Turner, both of Hot Springs; and brother-in-law Larry Sims of Breckenridge, Texas.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Lake Ouachita Baptist Church in Mt. Ida. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Hot Springs at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, her wishes were that memorial donations be made to Lake Ouachita Baptist Church, 3586 US-270, Mt. Ida, AR 71957.
