Charles Ray "Chick" Shultz, born March 2, 1932, in Van Buren went to be with his Savior on Saturday, July 10, 2004. He was known as "Pa Cick" to his grandchildren and close friends. A member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, he actively participated as a choir member and Sunday school teacher.

His career involved retiring as a veteran of the Korean War, member of the Arkansas 185th Fighter Wing where he received numeraous medals, ribbons, and accommodations, photograpehr of T.P. Davis Photography Studio, and a staff member of the Van Buren School District. In his early years, he attended Westark Community College and Arkansas Tech University where he served in the Honor Guard and was an Active member and past president of the NCO Association.

Chick was known as an all around sportsman for his love of camping, fishing and bowling. His love of the Sports and his children was shown in his coaching football, basketball and baseball at the Van Buren Boys and Girls Club where he was a past officer and member of the board of directors. As his children advanced in sports, Pa Chick became an avid Pointer fan and member of the Pointer Football and Basketball Booster Clubs. All family members and friends will remember his smile as he kept the clock and ran the chains at Pointer games. Due to his love of sports, the Arkansas Razorbacks also gained his loyalty as an avid fan.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, two daughters, and their husbands, one brother and sister-in-law, Juanita, one sister and brother-in-law, 11 grandchildren, three great granddaughters, his brother and sister-in-law Lynn, and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, as well as several close friends.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
