Ralph Woods Scott, 83, of Van Buren died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in Van Buren.
He was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Van Buren.
He was a retired central office repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. He served in the Army and played football and basketball at Van Buren High School, where he graduated in 1946. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Van Buren, was a member of the Old Fort Gun Club, a lifetime member of North American Hunting Club and National Rifle Association, a genealogist and a member of the Echota Cherokee Indian tribe of Alabama.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Scott of the home; a daughter, Connie Stewart of Texarkana, Ark.; two sons, Keith Scott of Van Buren and David Scott of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Kelsey Scott-Goswick of Fort Smith, Eric Scott of Wichita, Ryan Scott of Wichita, Jared Scott of Wichita, Adam Scott of Wichita, Cody Scott of Wichita, Dr. Leslie Stewart of Texarkana and Kevin Stewart of Texarkana; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Van Buren.
Honorary pallbearer will be Don Campbell.

Elizabeth Nelle Scott, 73, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at a local hospital.
She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Fort Smith Public School system and a member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Woods Scott; two daughters, Connie P. Stewart of Barling and Lynn Scott of Fort Smith; three sons, Alan R. Scott of Fort Smith, Keith F. Scott of Van Buren and David R. Scott of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Doris Clyma of Van Buren and Jean Morris of Fort Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Oct. 18 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Don Campbell, Dennis Allen, Kevin Allen, Allen Smith, Kirby Smith and Eric Scott.
Honorary pallbearers were Dow Scott, Carl Gross, Byron Richardson and Art Pollock.
