John J. Rownak,Sr., 87, of Fayetteville died Monday May 17, 2004 in a Fayetteville hospital.
He lived in Van Buren from 1943 until 2003 and moved to Fayetteville in April 2003.

He was an Army veteran having served in the European and African Theaters, and received numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star. He retired as vice president and loan officer from Merchants National Bank in FOrt Smith in 1982 where he was employed for 35 years.
He was a member of Wood Memorial Christian Church in Van Buren, the Van Buren Masonic Lodge No. 6, F&AM, Scottish Rite, York Rite and was past president of the Van Buren Optimist Club.

He was survived by his wife of 61 years, Allyne C. Rownak of Fayetteville; three sons, John J. Rownak Jr. and his wife, Judy of Fayetteville, Richard Rownak and his wife Pam of Culver City, California and Joel Rownak and his wife Lisa, of Lowell; sister Mary Nagy of Ansonia, Conn.; two grandsons and two great grandsons.

Funeral service was held at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Allyne C. Rownak, 95, of Fayetteville went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2013.
She was born in Denning, AR, to Charles B. and Effie L. Crutchfield on August 14, 1917.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John J. Rownak, Sr.

She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1934 and attended the University of Arkansas. She worked at Citizen's Bank in Van Buren, and then spent 23 years at Cooper Clinic in Fort Smith prior to retiring in 1982. Following retirement, Allyne and John played a lot of golf, often traveling to senior tournaments in Arkansas and Texas. They were active members of Wood Memorial Christian Church in Van Buren. She was also active in Eastern Star in Van Buren for many years. She also enjoyed movies, reading, traveling, spending time with her family and she was a loyal Razorback sports fan.

Allyne is survived by her son John Rownak and wife, Judy, of Fayetteville; son, Richard Rownak and wife, Pam, of Culver City, CA; grandsons David and Brian of Fayetteville and Joel and wife, Emily, of Lowell; six great-grandchildren; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2013. Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
