Gary Don Oden, 47, of Van Buren, AR, died Monday, October 13, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a retired machine operator for MEAD Containers, a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Buren, a High School Basketball Referee, a coach for the Boys & Girls Club and Andrews Field Softball Coach, a member of the Arkansas Officials Association, a graduate of Northside Hugh School and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by Linda Oden of the home, one daughter Cortney Parker & husband Landon of Alma, one son Rodney Oden & wife Ashley of Alma, mother; Alivern McDonald & husband Glenn both of Van Buren, two brothers Jimmy Oden & wife Sherry and Randy Oden & wife Pam all of Van Buren, two grandchildren, Alexis of Greenwood and Lynnlee of Alma, Mother & father-in-laws Wayne & Bonnie Goodson both of Ft. Smith, sister-in-laws Ellen Cheeley & husband Scott both of Ft. Smith and Laurs Bates & husband Ronnie of Cabot,AR, Brothers-in-laws; David Goodson & wife Ramons of Ft. Smith and Don Goodson & wife Sandy of Van Buren, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy McGrew, Robert Gregory, Will Faulkner, Tim Gardner, Jacob Parks, Kyle Shaw, Jimmy Pettus and Cody Keller.
