David Owen Partain, 82, of Van Buren died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 in a local hospital.

He was a member of the Van Buren First Presbyterian Church and a former attorney and circuit judge.
He was first elected prosecuting attorney of the 15th judicial District in January 1947. He was later elected Van Buren City Attorney in 1957 and was Circuit Judge of the 15th and 12th Judicial District from 1971 until he retired in 1986. He was also on the states Judicial Retirement Board from 1965-1970.
In 1967 he was elected to the Arkansas Legislature where served two terms as a state representative.
He was admitted to practice law before the Arkansas and United States Supreme Court. He was also an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Wars, serving in the Air Force's Night Fighter squadron as a navigator.

He was active in the community, participating in several civic organizations, including the Van Buren Masonic Lodge and the Western Arkansas Consistory. He was past-president of the Van Buren Rotary Club and was a member of the Crawford County and Arkansas Bar associatons.
He was a charter member of the Gracelawn Cemetery board.

He was survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter, Paige Zelikow of Charlottesville, Va, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Ocker Funeral Home with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
