Bennie Charles Lockhart, Jr., was born on July 12, 1967, in Camden, Arkansas, to Bennie Charles Lockhart, Sr., and Jessie Mae Lockhart. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Bennie was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Charles Lockhart, Sr.


He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board, attended Sunday School, and sang in the Church Choir. Bennie was educated at Camden High School and at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Who’s Who Among American Students, Key Club, National Beta Club, and National Business Leaders or America. He received the Black Achievement Award in College Academics in 1991 from the Ouachita Ministerial Alliance. He was a member of the National Black Student Union at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He served as a member and officer of various math and science clubs and organizations. Bennie excelled in both mathematics and science. He retired as a successful self employed businessman.


Bennie had two nick names one was “Brother” and the other one was “Booney”. He was Brother to his immediate family and Booney to his friends and associates. Bennie loved his family and had a kind and gentle spirit. He took extremely good care of his mother. Bennie made sure that she had everything that she wanted. His interests included sports, cooking, fishing, technology, and studying the Word of God. Most of all he loved the Lord.


Bennie was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Charles Lockhart Sr. He leaves to mourn in his passing, his mother, Jessie Mae Lockhart; sister, Phyllis Lockhart Watkins (Michael); Aunt Velma Ree Sims (Louis) of Little Rock, Arkansas; nephew, James Phillip Watkins; nephew, Michael Tyrone Watkins Jr. (Cynthia); niece, Jessica Mychell Watkins (fiancé Bradley Jackson); niece, Carmen Smith; and niece, Camren Price; all of Camden, Arkansas.


Special Cousins: Dr. LaRhonda Kay Sims (Rico) of Oklahoma City Oklahoma; Bridgette West (Fernandez) of Memphis Tennessee; KaTina Sims of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Greg Dennis of Little Rock; Second Sister, Charlotte Lockhart Juniel (Donald); Vanessa Lockhart Green (Horace); Reginald Lockhart (Cecilia); Keith Dennis, Jeffery Cole, Donald Ray Williams, Jerome Red, and Charles Rhodes; all of Camden, Arkansas.


Special Friends: Lawrence Askew, Anthony Walker, Anthony Gordon, and a host of friends and family members.


Funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
