Larry Lee New of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away September 30, 2020. He was 85 years old. Larry was born in Gallatin, MO September 1,1935. He is predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Virgil New and a sister, Helen Lattin. He is survived by his wife Ruth Garoldine, a daughter Gerri Prince (Dennis), two sons Gerald New (Sonya) and David New (Connie) and a brother Duane New (Margaret). Larry is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Larry married the love of his life, Garoldine, September 2, 1956 in Jamesport MO and served in the USAF at several bases over the world for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, he and his family returned to Jacksonville AR. He then worked for Pulaski Vo-Tech as a welding instructor for 20 years. After his second retirement, Larry retired to the golf course making and repairing golf clubs and of course golfing.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis TN 38101-9929.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4. 2020 at First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville. Service and interment with military honors, Rev. Hazel Clark officiating will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2020 at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Jacksonville.
State of AR COVID-19 directives: Face coverings required. Maintain social distancing.
