Paul M. Lehnen, 78 of Van Buren passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 in a local nursing home.
He was born May 9, 1934, to Tony Sr. & Clara (Fritschie) Lehnen at the Colonial Hospital in Fort Smith.

He attended St. Boniface Catholic School and St. Anne's Academy, graduating in 1952. He grew up proud to deliver newspapers on his new Cushman scooter in the Fresno and Towson Avenue area and next worked at a local donut shop. Before entering the U.S. Army, he assisted his sister in her "Roger's Bakery" on Jenny Lind Avenue. He was stationed in Germany, enjoyed traveling Europe while on leave and was discharged from the service from Camp Chaffee in October 1958. On that day, he met his wife, Jo Ann; they were married on Sept. 5, 1959. On Feb. 16, 1959, Paul purchased Mace's Bakery in downtown Van Buren, and he has been proud to grow Paul's Bakery as a family business with the town of Van Buren. He hired many young people, and he took great pride in their successes and loved meeting and greeting people of all ages. His many devoted employees and customers were so appreciated. He was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, serving as an usher and formerly served on the building committee and the Parish Council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Henry, Tony Jr. and Gene; and two sisters, Lena Rogers and Ann Ruzicka.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and soon to be great-grandfather.

Rosary will be 6:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Van Buren. Funeral Mass will be 9:00 A.M. Monday, July 2, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Timothy Donnelly O.S.B. officiating.

Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Arnold Bogner, John Rice, Ed Knittig, Richard Henry, Leonard Blaschke and Joe Lehnen.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann of the home; four daughters, Lisa Abner of Van Buren, Jackie and Danny Hamby of Van Buren, Michele and Arron Wilson of Roland and Jennifer and John Lehnen-Compas of San Diego; three sons, Mark Lehnen, Robert and Laura Lehnen of Van Buren and Michael Lehnen of Fayetteville; and nine grandchildren, Shane Hawkins, Lorren and Billy Johnson, Kaitlyn and Eric Wilson, Paula and John Hamby and Parker, Audrey and Abby Lehnen; one sister, Clara Czach of Niles, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
