J. W. "Hawk" Kendrick, 84, of Barling, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 in Van Buren.
He was born May 27, 1929 in Centerville, AR to the late Lon and Pearl Kendrick.

He was a retired house painter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Freda.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; three daughters, Sandra Denman of Denton, TX, Tonya Creakman of Moore, OK, and Marcell Chronister of Fort Smith; a step-daughter, Debra Jones of Barling; a son, James Kendrick of Van Buren; four step-sons , David Isakson of Mountain Home, Jeffrey Isakson of Milton, FL, Daniel Isakson of Morrison, OK, and Scott Isakson of Fort Smith; three sisters, Vera of Utah, CA, Faye of Oroville, CA; and Mary of Russellville; a brother, Frank Kendrick of Van Buren; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Kendrick, Kolby Kendrick, Scott Isakson, Dustin Jeremiah, Ryan Reed, and Johnny Jones.

Freda Louise Kendrick, 62, of Van Buren died Monday, May 12 1997, in a Ft. Smith hospital. She is survived by her husband, J.W.; four daughters, Peggy Coppedge of Danville, Sandra Denman of Harrah, Okla., Tonya Creakman of Moore, Okla., and Marcell Chronister of Ft. Smith; a son, James Kendrick of Van Buren; a sister LaWanda David of Moore, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Terry and LeRoy Tindle, Donnie and Roger Kendrick, Wayne Shulls, O.J. Chronister and Orlen Willis.

Freda was a very crafty person, she loved to paint, do needcrafts, etc. She was a very funny person that kept everyone laughing anytime she was around, even if she was at the butt of the joke. She also loved Bluegrass music and attending Bluegrass Festivals with her husband J.W., sister Wanda Sue, Aunt Wanda Faye and her kids and grandkids when they could attend.

Freda was on her way to visit her Aunt Wanda Faye and Uncle Dale and then go to her Mothers grave for decoration weekend when she had a medical emergency at a local restraunt. Freda was taken to the hospital and then transferred to a larger hospital and hour away for better medical care. Freda never regained consiousness and passed away at the hospital.
