Joe David Jeryo, 81 of Van Buren, died Sunday in a local hospital.
He was born March 17 1906 in Greenwood to John and Mary E. Medvick Jeryo.
He retired in 1977 after 50 years as the pharmacist and owner of Jeryo Drug Store. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church where he had served on the Board of Stewards and as head usher for many years.
He was a member of the Arkansas and Texas Pharmaceutical Associations and was a graduate of the Danforth School of Pharmacy in Amarillo, Texas. He was a member and past president of the Van Buren Rotary Club where he held perfect attendance for 38 years. He was a board member of the Salvation Army and had received the Van Buren Rotary Club's Recognition Award.
He was a member of the Van Buren Masonic Lodge and the Western Arkansas Consistory.
He was survived by his wife, Elizabeth; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ernest Bartlett of Fort Smith; a sister, Mrs. Mary Gray of Muskogee; and three grandsons.
Funeral services were hled in Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Elizabeth Wright Jeryo, 88 of Van Buren died Wednesday, December 24, 1997 in a local hospital.
She was born December 25, 1908 in Fort Smith to Miles Edwin and Ethel Wright.
She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of Friendship Sunday School class, and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women.
She was the widow of Joe Jeryo.
She was survived by one daughter, Ruth Bartlett of Fort Smith; one sister, Ruth Bateman of Fargo, North Dakota; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Heritage United Methodist Church with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
