GARFIELD — Ed Smith, 67, of Garfield died Dec. 1, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born March 16, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan., to Norman and Gladys Ellen Betzel Smith. He and his wife moved to Garfield in 1971 from California. He was a truck driver for 28 years and a Protestant, whose interests included fishing and hunting. He married Mary Ellen Armstrong in June 1971.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Smith of the home; his mother, Gladys Tackett of Montclair, Calif.; five sons, Billy Mike Corley of Gateway, James B. Corley, Kirby W. Corley, Danny K. Corley, all of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and George Edward Smith of Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter, Rita Jean Corley Taylor of Sulphur Springs, Texas; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ruddick Cemetery with Harvey Moore officiating. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Smith, 79, of Garfield, died May 11, 2020, in her home. She was born Nov. 21, 1940, in Pitcher, Okla., to LeRoy Armstrong and Maudean Shelly Armstrong.

She married Norman Smith June 12, 1971, in Las Vegas. She was a truck driver and retired from FM Corp, in Rogers. She loved going to the casino, taking cruises and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman Smith; a son, Bill Corley; and two siblings.

Survivors are six children, James Corley of Tyler, Texas, Kirby Corley of Mead, Okla., Danny Corley (Sandra) of Kingston, Okla., Rita Corley of Yantis, Texas, Enola Taylor of Texarkana, and Judy Bray of Pea Ridge; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

There is no visitation scheduled.

A graveside service is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
