Benjamin "Ben" Arvid Hesslen, 60, of 5015 Spradling died Friday at a Fort Smith, Arkansas hospital. He was a purchasing agent for Desoto Manufacturing Company. and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sebastian Lodge 706 and the Western Arkansas Consistory.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; one son, Gayle of Fort Smith; his mother, Mrs. Ida Hesslen of Van Buren; one sister, Mabel of Van Buren; and one brother, Cecil Hesslen of Van Buren.

Bernice Hesslen, 90 of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
She was born December 2, 1923 in Hobbtown, AR to the late Hugh and Susie Coleman.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, retired from Hoerner Box Company and attended the Baker Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband B.A. Hesslen, daughter-in-law Mary Hesslen, sisters; Alma Scott and her husband Edgar "Scotty" Scott, Wilma Dollard and her husband Earl, and her sister-in-law, Violet Hesslen.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

Bernice is survived by her son Gayle Hesslen of Fort Smith, three step-grandchildren; Mindy Webber and her husband Will of New Braufels, TX, Grant Holt and his wife Julie of Houston, TX and Mark Holt of Rudy, two step-great grandchildren; Nathaniel and Quin Webber both of New Braunfels, TX, her brother-in-law Cecil Hesslin of Van Buren, two nieces Cecilia Peer and her husband Charles of Siloam Springs and Sharon Burns of Van Buren, two nephews; Benjamin Leslie "Buddy" Hesslen of Van Buren, and Carl Dale Dollard of Bond Special, her great niece; Jordan Peer of Siloam Springs, two great nephews; Christian Hesslen of Fayetteville and B.J. Burns of Van Buren, a great, great niece London Buck and great, great nephew Collier Buck.
