Wallace (Bill) Harger, 73, of Van Buren, died Monday at a Fort Smith hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born, Nov. 19, 1908, at Denning, he was the son of Herbert and Mary Cleeton Harger.

He was a retired employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad and a member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainers.

Survivors include his family, Hazelteen Mathis Harger, Wallace Ann Harger Swearingen, Greg Harger and Jeff Swearingen; four sisters, Duffa Crawford of Fort Smith, Louise Holle of Van Buren, Wanda Helm of Camdenton, Mo., and Mary Lutie Hilz of Falls Church, Va.

Funeral services were held at the Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Stanley Daniel officiating. Burial was in Gracelawn cemetery.

Pallbearers were Raymond Allen, Lewis Keifer, J.N. Kirkpatrick, Virgil Smith, Dr. Carl Williams, Dr. D. J. McMininy and members of the Paul Hurst Sunday school class and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainers.

Hazelteen M. Harger, 95, of Van Buren died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, in a local nursing home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Van Buren.

She was a retired registered nurse at Harding Glass Co. and a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace "Bill" Harger; and a daughter, Wallace Ann Swearingen.

She is survived by Greg Harger and wife, Leah and their children, Rebekah, Rachel and Matthew, all of Prairie Grove, Jeff Martin and wife Suzanne and their children, Emily Martin, Beth Bradshaw and husband, Martin and their daughter, Olivia of Van Buren and Anice Simpson of Clarksville.

Graveside service was at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
