John Tim Garner, 78 died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 of Van Buren, Arkansas at St.Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

He was the co-owner and CEO of John Garner Meats, Inc., established in 1947. He was a charter member of the North Park Baptist Church, a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a former member of the Board of Directors for Peoples Bank and continued thru four bank name changes, ending with the present U.S. Bank.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat Garner of the home; one son, DeWayne Garner and wife Debbie of Van Buren; one granddaughter, Jessica Macy of Van Buren; one sister, Nell Franklin of Brooksville, FL; and one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda DeShazo of Rudy, AR.

Funeral service was held Thursday, December 2 at 10:00am at Ocker Chapel in Van Buren with Reverend Tom Steward officiating. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers were Skip Steele, DeWite DeShazo, Steve Fow, Mike Richmond, Landon Ridenour and Larry Owens.
Honorary pallbearers were Willie Wikman, Steve Basham, Jerry Williams, Ronnie Breeden, Donnie Breeden, Ralph Farrar, Roger Key, Ted Myers, L.G. Williams, Bill Thomas, C.E. Dougan and Beth Duvall.
