Homer Chamness, Jr., 81 of Van Buren, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 in his home.

He was a retired truck driver after 35 years with Yellow Freight Systems, and was preceded in death by his wife Glenda, and two sons; Gary and Russell Chamness.

Funeral service will be at 10 am Thursday, June 2, in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by three daughters; Donna Bredrick, Brenda Higgins, Diane Metheny, all of Van Buren, a son Doug Chamness of Van Buren, two brothers; Marshall and John Chamness, both of Missouri, seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Metheny, Brad Ball, Toby Bourlin, Jeff Metheny, Bobby Wait, and Johnny Bredrick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Savage, Dale Wagnon, Jim Oden, Bill Taylor, Dean Metheny, Johnny Hedge, Somner Breshears, and Kevin Hatfield.

Glenda Jean Chamness, 63 of Van Buren died Thursday, April 16, 1998 in a local hospital.

She was a homemaker.

She was survived by her husband, Homer; three daughters, Donna Bredrick, Brenda Riggins and Diana Metheny, all of Van Buren; two sons, Russell Chamness of Little Rock and Doug Chamness of Fort Smith, her mother, Cloe Richardson of St. Charles, Missouri; eight sisters, Norma Holloway of St. Louis, Ellen Veter, Carolyn Pelton, Annette Pfeiffer, Harriett Moss, Connie Fox and Diana Houster, all of St. Charles, Missouri, and Kathy Bruns of Mexico, Missouri; five brothers, Gerald Speer of Denver, Harry Dean Richardson and Newton Jay Richardson, both of St. Charles, Missouri, Louis Richardson of Sprinfield, Missouri and Stan Richardson of Illinois, 17 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 20, 1998 at Wood Memorial Christian Church with burial at Gracelawn.
