Joe H. Burgess, 83, of Fort Smith died Monday, September 6, 2010 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.

He was a salesman for John Garner Meat Co. and a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; a daughter, Jo Dawna Burgess of the home; three sons, Stephen and Mark Burgess, both of Fort Smith, and Mike Burgess of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Roxie Moore of Oklahoma City, Peggy Baber of Bella Vista and Robbie Toothaker of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Roebuck Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith with Rev. David Orr and Rev. William A. Cheyne officiating. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers were David McDonald, Bill Williams, Jesse Robinson, Harley Strang, DeWayne Garner and Rodney Burgess.

Lois (Williams) Burgess, 91 of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in a local nursing home.

She was a registered nurse at Sparks Hospital then Holt Krock Clinic in Fort Smith; a graduate of Sparks Nursing School in Fort Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith and a member of Crusaders Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Burgess; both parents, John Wesley and Cleo (Short) Williams; her daughter, JoDawna Burgess; five brothers.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen Joe and Mark Burgess both of Fort Smith, Mike Burgess of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Kathryn Graham of Rogers; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be at Gracelawn Cemetery Arbor under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Preston Burgess, Taylor Burgess, Weston Burgess, Donovan Burgess, Jonathan Robinson and Jonah Robinson.

Jo Dawna Burgess, 64 of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in a local hospital.

She attended Bost to the age of thirteen then to McCalls Chapel School in Ada, Oklahoma; she was active with the Fort Smith Hope Center and participated in the Special Olympics.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Burgess.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the 1st United Methodist Church Roebuck Chapel at 200 North 15th in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

She is survived by her mother, Lois (Williams) Burgess who dedicated her life to caring for her beloved daughter; three brothers, Stephen Joe Burgess and Mark Burgess and wife, Jan all of Fort Smith; Mike Burgess and wife, Cindy of Edmond, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Burgess, Weston Burgess, Donovan Burgess, Steve Burgess, Mark Burgess and Mike Burgess.
