"Tank" joined the National Guard in 1997 and had served in Saudia Arabia and Bosnia. He was stationed in Baghdad, Iraq with Company B, Ist Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Brigade Combat Team of the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was killed when a car bomb detonated near his guard post. His funeral was held on May 15, 2004 at 11:00 am in the Camden High School Gymnasium to accomodate all of his friends and family. Hesley "Tank" Box, Jr. was survived by his wife, Alexia Johnson Box: two infant sons, T'Darius and Zacheas Box; his father, Hesley Box, Sr.; his mother, Barbara Box and his brother, Tarcus Box. He was a fine Christian man, loved and missed by many. A true American hero.
