She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother peacefully completed her journey to her heavenly home on New Years Day January 1, 2009. She died at the Sequoyah Pointe Nursing Home in Owasso, OK. Ethel was 93 years old and had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for several years. She lived in Jackson/Pearl Mississippi for 52 years before moving to Tallahassee, Florida for 5 years and Owasso, OK for the past 3 years. She was a Church of Christ member for 80 years. As her time with us came to an end, we gained comfort and inspiration knowing that her faith in God was strong and she is now at peace in heaven.

Ethel was a certified nursing assistant in Jackson, Mississippi until the age of 80, when a car accident ended her nursing career. During W.W. II, Ethel worked at Firestone Tire Company in Memphis Tennessee, providing her country needed supplies for the war effort. During her active lifetime, she served her fellow man in whatever capacity needed while providing her friends and family with fresh vegetables from her enormous gardening capabilities.

Ethel and Elton Barnett are survived by their three daughters, and son-in-law. She has 5 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009 in the sanctuary of the Central Baptist Church in Owasso, OK with Pastor Scott Carlson officiating. Scott Neighbors will be providing the music. Following the church services, their will be a luncheon for the family. At 3:00 p.m. Monday, there will be a family graveside ceremony at Gracelawn Cemetery, VanBuren, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., #17, Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service.
