GEORGE L. VAN HORN
George LeRoy "Boots" Van Horn, 75 years old, 522 South 6th Street, Van Buren, died Monday morning, April 25, 1966 at his home after a sudden illness. He had been a resident of Van Buren for 44 years and was the son of George Lafayette and Margaret (Coker) Van Horn. He was a retired engineer for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Survivors are his wife, a son, a brother, a sister, and three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Thursday at 2;30 p.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church. The body lied in state for one hour before the service. The pastor, Charles Graves, officiated. Burial, directed by Ocker Funeral Home, was at Fairview Cemetery, Van Buren, Arkansas.

Lela Alice Merrill Van Horn, 89 year old Van Buren Florist and long time resident of Van Buren died at her home.

She was the widow of Leroy 'Boots' Van Horn who died in April 1966.

She was a member of Van Buren First Baptist Church, and a member of the Van Buren Literary Club.

She operated Van Horns flower shop at 1210 E. Main for many years.

She was survived by a son, John M. 'Boots' Van Horn of Georgia; a granddaughter, Cyndee Smallwood of Canton Georgia; two grandsons, Kim Van Horn of Van Buren and John Van Horn Jr. of College Park, Georgia and nine great grandchldren.
