George Wilbern Scroggins, 90, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in his home.

He was a farmer and a retired long distance truck driver for Allied Van and the Farmers Co-op. He also supervised German War Prisoners at Ogden, Utah, during World War II.

Mr. Scroggins is the son of the late Ollie and Elsie Clark Scroggins.

Funeral was 10 a.m. Thursday at City Heights United Methodist Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Taylor Scroggins of the home; a daughter, Patricia Scroggins Ruden of Shorewood, Ill.; a son, James Scroggins of Van Buren; three sisters, Lovella Dahn of Cedar Springs, Mich., Lela Brents of Benton and Reatha Blaylock of Iuka, Miss.; four brothers, Clyde Scroggins of Hope, O.C., Henry and A.Z. Scroggins, all of Benton; five grandchildren, Eric and Greg Ruden, Jennifer Madson of Naperville, Ill., Dixie and Sandra Scroggins of Van Buren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Whittington, David Broadrick, Jack Khilling, Skip Kelley, James Gibbs, James Edwin Lloyd and Eric and Greg Ruden.
Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Thorman, Moda Harris, Bob Vandergirff, W.J. Rimmer, Everett Howard, Kenneth Pugh, Earl Owens and Fred Thorman.

Louise Taylor Scroggins, 91, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. She was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Chicago.

Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of City Heights Methodist Church, a charter member of the Crawford County Art Association, a member of the Women's Literary Society of Van Buren, Crawford County Genealogy Society and the Crawford County Fair Board, and a board member of the Crawford County Museum.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilbern Scroggins; brothers, Bud Ganz and John Taylor; sister, Anna May Sliter; and daughter, Patricia Elsie Ruden. She is survived by one son, James Scroggins, and wife Lou of Van Buren; one sister, Isabella Hastie of Wichita, Kan.; one son-in-law, Donald Ruden of Shorewood, Ill; grandchildren, Eric Ruden of Arnold, Md., Greg Ruden and Jennifer Madson of Naperville, Ill., Dixie Smith of Van Buren and Sandra Phipps of Centerton; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Paige, Alec, Allison, Garrett, Leah, Cade, Ryan and Erika.

Louise was a farmer and was instrumental in starting farmer's markets in Fort Smith and Van Buren. She loved helping others and served as a 4-H leader for many years while working for Crawford County Extension Services. People from across the United States and overseas hired Louise to research their family genealogy. Louise did much research into the history of Citizens Bank and the Methodist church, and was named a "Van Buren Living Legend" recipient in 1995. In 1997, she was recognized by the Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council for 50 years of service in the association. She continued to enjoy spending time with her family, working for the community of Van Buren, and quilting with the Ladies Aid of City Heights UMC.

Funeral services were held Saturday January 8th 2011 at 10:00am at City Heights Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Kelton and Rev. Randy Miller officiating.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Pugh, Scott Smith, Michael Phipps, Skip Kelly, David Broaddrick and Lloyd Thorman.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Quilting Ladies of City Heights UMC, Jack Khilling, Bob Vandergriff and Lloyd Grace.
