Funeral services for Mrs. Deedie Hempstead, aged 78 of Chidester who died Monday in a local hospital will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at Chidester. Mrs. Hempstead was the wife of Elmo Hempstead who with five children survives. She also leaves twenty two grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Williams Funeral Home in charge. (Camden News - December 8, 1967)
