Henry Frederick Pape
January 3, 1854 - March 27, 1929

Henry Frederick Pape was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on January 3,1854, and was the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Ziegenbein) Pape. The father was a contractor and builder of Hanover, Germany, and after his marriage immigrated to the United States in 1849, locating in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 1852 he moved to Fort Smith. where he died in 1866. He was a skillful workman, and erected a large number of buildings in that city.

Henry received his education in Fort Smith and at the State University at Fayetteville. When his father died his partner in the mercantile business was A. Haglan, and Jacob Ziegenbein, his brother-in-law, then took charge. Four years later Mr. Z. died, and Charles A. Pape became the manager. In 1876 he took charge of the business, and held
that position until 1880, when he became a partner of Mr. McKibben at Van Buren. Mr. Pape was a prosperous business man, and was a stockholder in the Van Buren Canning Co.

He married Miss Lucy S. Southmayd, daughter of L. C. Southmayd, on October 1, 1884, She was born in Van Buren in 1857, and was the mother of Charles A., Leonard S. and Lucy Clay Pape.

He passed from this life on March 27, 1929 in Van Buren, Arkansas and was buried at Fairview Cemetery.

Lucy Southmayd Sanford Pape
1856 - May 11, 1922

Lucy S. Southmayd, daughter of L. C. Southmayd, was born in 1856 in Van Buren, Arkansas.

on October 1, 1884, He married Henry F. Pape and was the mother of Charles A., Leonard S. and Lucy Clay Pape.

She passed from this life on May 11, 1922 and was buried in Fairview Cemetery.
