EUGENE W. DEERING
Eugene W. Deering, 69 years old, 801 Broadway, Van Buren, died Sunday, April 24, 1966 in a local hospital. He wa born January 1, 1897 in Van Buren to W. A. Deering and Mrs. Edna Ward Deering and spent his lifetime here. He served as postmaster here for about 24 years before retiring October 31, 1963. A veteran of the First World War, he was a member of the Trinity Episcopal church, VAn Buren Masonic lodge No. 6, Royal Arch Chapter No. 6, Fort Smith Osaris Council No. 5, and Fort Smith Commandry No. 3. He was an honary member of the Albert Pike Pryory No. 20 and KYCH and a charter member of the Amrita Grotto.
Survivors are his wife, and an aunt, of Memphis, Tenn.
The Funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Ocker Funeral Home with E. J. W. Fennell, vicar of Trinity Episcopal church, officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
