September 19, 1943 - January 23, 2022
Jo Ellen Drake, age 78, of Cabot, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
She was born in 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of James F. George and Winona Hillenburg George. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her best-friend/sister, Carol Moix.
Jo Ellen attended Louisville Male High School and was a member of the Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star. She was an avid reader, who loved animals and Elvis Presley. She moved to Virginia in 1970 where she met her life-long best friend, Carol. She was blessed to be able to help raise her granddaughter, Katie, and travel the world.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Larry and Cheryl Drake of Kentucky, Todd and Becky Drake of Kentucky, Cheryl and Mike Prowinsky of Florida, Stephanie and Ken Larson of Cabot, Chad and Carissa Nance of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Samantha Raber, Angela Hundley, Joshua Drake, Richard Hajer, Katie Lyons, Elijah Nance, Alexander Nance and Raygen Drake; six great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Rev. James F. George, Jr. and Tammy of Virginia; her sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Charles Rueve of Texas; nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Graveside services will be private under the direction of the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, formerly known as Davis-Smith Funeral Home.
