Huey D. Grandstaff, age 82, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

He was born on December 21, 1933, in Hot Springs, the son of Jerald Dennis Grandstaff and Daisy Belle Davis Grandstaff. On June 14, 1952, he was married to Jean Shelton. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Samuel, George, Harvey "Leo", Carl and Dennis; and four sisters, Eva Lee, Ruby, Opal and Anna May.

He was a member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. After thirty-three and a half years of honorable and dedicated service to his country, he retired as Chief Warrant Officer (W-4) from the U.S. Coast Guard. He was the true meaning of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. The many stories he shared over the years will continue to be cherished by generations to come.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Grandstaff of Hot Springs; one son, Huey Grandstaff, Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Hot Springs; two daughters, Debbie Jiwa and her husband, Salim, of Salisbury, Maryland and Vicki Chapman of Bel-Air, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Bradley Chapman, Blake Chapman, Marissa Burton, Sarah Streett, Sean Jiwa, Huey D. Grandstaff, III and Dylan Jiwa; two great-grandchildren, Max Burton and Levi Grandstaff; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Pastor David Fleming and Pastor David Wilson officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Thaddeus H. Caraway VFW Post #2278.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Bradley Chapman, Blake Chapman, Huey D. Grandstaff, III, Sean Jiwa, Dylan Jiwa and Clinton Burton.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice, 5th floor, CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs and his golfing buddies from the Diamondhead Golf and Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, Feeding The Children Fund, 841 Quapaw Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71901.
