Dretha P. Harp, age 74, of Mountain Pine, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014.

She was born on March 2, 1940 in Durant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lloyd Newton and Thelma Lee Smith Newton.

On May 4, 2010, she was married to Farris Harp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Gavin Banker; one granddaughter, Amber Gamble; and one brother, Jimmy Newton.

Dretha was a member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was a retired cook from Hot Springs Junior High School and a security guard at Oaklawn Park.

She is survived by her husband, Farris Harp of Mountain Pine; one son and daughter-in-law, Dayne and Amy Banker of Mountain Pine; one daughter, Cheri Norman of Hot Springs; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Becky Newton of McKinney, Texas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Janell and Omar Skates of Pearcy, Linda Kay and Don Holland of Royal, and Elaine and Don Slater of Hot Springs; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 31, 2014 in the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle with Rev. Dennis Anderson and Rev. J.E. Peters officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Pallbearers will be Gary Adams, Barry Adams, Randy Adams, Shon Holland, Justin Brown, and Durant Adams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Smith, R.N., the staff of Dierksen Hospice, Dr. Lynn A. Cleveland and staff, and Hank Meeks.
