Edward William Walker, 88, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord May 5, 2021. He was born January 13, 1933, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, to Fred and Margaret Walker.

Edward married the love of his life, Mary, in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, on October 22, 1955
They were married for 65 years. He often told mom that she was #1 in his life and we were all #2, just as it should be.

Loving survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Jane Walker; son, Edward W. Walker Jr.; daughter, Tara Walker (Randy); grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Nicolas Walker, Brooke Thayer (Matthew), Brittany Walker; and great-grandchildren, Cassidy Thayer, Alexis Nordstrom, and Addison Nordstrom.

Edward joined the U.S. Army and decided to make a lifelong career of it. He served tours of duty in Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam in the Army Security Agency as an E8 Master Sergeant. Edward and his family were fortunate to be able to live in countries around the world, Okinawa, Japan and Germany. He retired after serving our country for 24 years and received numerous awards and medals. The medals include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Aircraft Crewman Badge.

Ed was a man that loved his Lord, country, and family and gave everything he had to it.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a celebration of Ed’s life immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Chaffin officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Randy Walker, Matthew Thayer, Travis Bunn, Steve Thayer, Steve Buckingham, and Mark Buckingham.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the many doctors, nurses and staff of CHI St. Vincent for the wonderful care they gave our loved one.
