William O. Stephens, Sr., age 68, of Hot Springs, died, Sunday, July 3, 2011. He was born on December 3, 1942 at Greenville, Mississippi, the son of Stewart Caldwell Stephens and Mary Virginia McCleary Stephens. On November 28, 2002, he was married to Carolyn Clark. William served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Shriker. He received a degree as a certified millwright from Cooper Steel Industries in Greenville, Mississippi and was a member of the Steel Workers Union and Apostolic Faith Tabernacle. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Stephens of Hot Springs; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William O. Stephens, Jr., of Hot Springs and Jonathan Andrew and Amy Millet of New Orleans, Louisiana; four daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Troy Gregg of Glenwood, Yvonne "Bonnie" and Carl Bardwell and Debra and Alex Thomas all of Hot Springs, and Jennifer and Christian Golemi of Luling, Louisiana; twelve grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Babe Stephens of Fairbanks, Alaska; one sister and brother-in-law, Sissy and Eldred Miner of Boulder, Colorado; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Sue Clark of Hammond, Louisiana; his best friend Thomas "Hawk" and Sue Haik of Comeau, Mississippi; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, 3217 Airport Road, Pearcy, with Bro. Dennis Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Military honors will be provided by the Thaddeus H. Caraway VFW Post #2278 and members of the United States Navy. Pallbearers will be William Stephens, Jr., Carl Bardwell, Calvin Watkins, Alex Thomas, Sr., Alex Thomas, Jr., Troy Gregg, Dustin Stephens, and Donald Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas "Hawk" Haik, Robert Clark, Eugene Clark, the staff of the Arlington Hotel, and the members of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
