*When Velda Ree Benton-Hughes-Cook was born on September 19, 1927, in Arkansas, her father, Charles, was 19, and her mother, Melvina, was 20. She married Thomas T Hughes on June 11, 1949. She died on July 4, 2016, in Letona, Arkansas, at the age of 88.
