Kenneth Wayne Pumphrey, Sr., 77, of Junction City passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home in El Dorado, Arkansas following a long and hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born June 21, 1942 in El Dorado, he was the son of John Lawrence Pumphrey Sr. and Opal Greer Pumphrey. Kenneth was a member of the Church of Christ. He worked for the garment factory in Junction City during the late 1960's and in 1970 began a career at Great Lakes Chemical until his retirement in 2003. Kenneth was an avid sportsman and a fan of Junction City Dragon Football. He loved living in South Caledonia and always enjoyed a good ole "stump burnin" while drinking a cold Dr. Pepper and listening to good music!
Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife of 47 years Bobbie Hux Pumphrey, grandson Daniel Wayne Pumphrey, and brothers Jesse Pumphrey and Allen Pumphrey.
Kenneth is survived by his three sons, Kenneth Wayne Pumphrey Jr. and wife Melissa, Monte Pumphrey, and Mark Pumphrey all of Junction City and grandson Jacob Thomas Pumphrey of Magnolia, Arkansas who lovingly called him Pops. Also surviving are three brothers, Lawrence Pumphrey of Wesson, Arkansas; Roy Pumphrey and wife Ruth of Smackover, Arkansas and Dale Pumphrey and wife Tina of Zachary, Louisiana and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2020 at Olive Branch Cemetery in the South Caledonia community. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR
