Carl Raymond "Buddy" Nelson, 88 of Crossett passed away, January 29, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born February 3, 1926 in the Barkada Community in Drew County to the late Carl Nelson and Florence Bell Wright Nelson.

He was a retired bus mechanic for the Crossett School System and a member of Crossett First United Methodist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II and The Korean War. In World War II he served on the U.S.S. Essex and was involved in the Guadalcanal and Bougainville campaigns in the Pacific. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jewell E. Nelson Daugherty and her husband, Idell.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Myra Louise White Nelson of Crossett; two sons, Carl Edward Nelson of El Dorado and Greg Nelson of New York City, NY and wife Cheryl of the Philippines; one daughter, Karla Nelson of El Dorado; two sisters, Rena M. Simmons of Pine Bluff and Helen Rose Ross and husband Carroll of Monticello; one nephew, Ron Daughtery and wife Kaye of Benton; one niece, India R. Ashcraft and husband Scott of Woodlawn; several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3 at Crossett First United Methodist Church, 500 Main St., Crossett, AR with burial to follow in Andrews Chapel in Drew County. Arrangements are by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
