Hazel Lee Parrish of Rudy passed from this life into the arms of God on March 10, 2014, in Van Buren.
She was born June 27, 1923, in Rudy to Walter Lee Whitson and Betty Ballentine Whitson.

Hazel was a member of First Assembly of God in Van Buren. She retired from Whirlpool. Hazel enjoyed quilting with her friends of First Assembly and helping with their monthly meals, where she made tea and chocolate pies. She was a country girl and loved being outside. Hazel loved God, her family and her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Ballentine Whitson and Walter and Irene Whitson; her husband, Lyall Parrish; one daughter, Lana Lufkin; and one brother, Paul Whitson.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. Officiating will be Torin Johnson with burial at Newberry Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral in Van Buren.

She is survived by one daughter, LaBetha Terrill of Rudy; one son, Larry Parrish and wife Carolyn of Rudy; one brother, George H. Whitson and wife Phyllis and their daughter, Cindy Whitson of Rudy; two sons-in-law, Pete Lufkin and Carl Terrill; four grandchildren, Shelley Taylor, Chris Young, Cindy Parrish and Wendy Crawford; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family will visit with relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Watson, Glen Cottrell, Kevin Peters, Dennis Taylor, Jackie Gregory and Carl Terrill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Peters, Walton Ballentine, Dicky Brammer and Benny Perryman.
