Funeral services for Claude Newton, 54 of Route 1 Alma, Arkansas were conducted Saturday morning at the Kibler Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Lester Nye and the Rev. Walden Gooch officiating. Burial was at Newberry Chapel cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.

Mr. Newton died May 18, 1961 at a local hospital following a short illness. He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Sula, three sons, Darrell Dwight, Van Buren, Donald Gene and Claude Jr., both of Route three, Van Buren; four daughters, Mrs. Hamilton Peevy, Alma, Mrs. Clinton Parks, Fullerton, California, Mrs. Earle Tinney, Van Buren and Miss Sula Christine Newton of the home; five brothers, James W. of Alma, Miles of Van Buren, Ray of Alma, Woodrow or Synder, Texas and Edward of Odessa, Texas; four sisters, Addie of Hollister, California, Minnie and Mattie, both of Salinas, California and Lavelle of Dyer, Arkansas and 12 grandchildren.

Sula
July 26, 1907 - August 5, 2000

Sula Bert Newton, 93, of Van Buren died Saturday, August 5, 2000, in a local hospital.

She was a homemaker, lifelong resident of Crawford County, member of the Assembly of God and the widow of Claude Newton.

Funeral service was at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Newberry Chapel Cemetery.

She is survived by four daughters, Norma Gregory of Alma, Yivanea Tinney of Kibler, Serverta Parks of California and Sue Robinson of Van Buren; two sons, Don of Alma and C.J. of Van Buren; one sister, Nita Dyer of Dyer; one brother, Miller Wagner of California; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Tinney, Ricky and Darrell Wayne Newton, Lester Peters, Joe Cowin and Gary Peevy
