In profound sorrow the professional and courteous staff of Christian Way Funeral Home sorrowfully announces the earthly departure of Mr. Ray Thrower. He answered to his name Friday morning, May 11, 2018 and said “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, now there is in store for him a crown of righteousness, which the lord the righteous Judge shall give me at that day.


Life Journey of Ray Elmer Thrower

The life of Ray Elmer Thrower began on September 27, 1947 in Fordyce, Arkansas to the proud parents the late Ray Thrower and Theola Rayford Thrower. He was called from this earthly tabernacle on Friday May 11, 2018.

He attended the Fordyce Public School system and was a member if the Greenville Missionary Baptist Church in Fordyce Arkansas.
He began his work experience with Georgia Pacific Paper Mill that spanned over a 40 years until he retired in 2009. On March 7, 2009, he married Gwendolyn Lee at which time he moved to Pine Bluff and they attended First Assembly of God church. After, his retirement from Georgia Pacific he found enjoyment in gardening, carpentry, traveling, going to the theaters and movies. He completed the Master Gardening classes with the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Extension Office and participated for a time with working in the community garden located at the extension office in Pine Bluff. He also enjoyed fellowship with the Men Ministry at First Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff. He joined and attended First Assembly of God church unit the day he was called home to be with the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Ray and Theola Thrower, Sister Ola Chambers, and brother Lee Edward Thrower all from Fordyce.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Gwendolyn Lee Thrower of Pine Bluff Arkansas, his daughter Mia Thrower of Milwaukee Wisconsin, two brothers Alvin Thrower of Fordyce Arkansas, and Travis Thrower of Mayflower, Arkansas, Sister Josephine Crain of Fordyce, Arkansas, Aunts Bernie Davis and Mary Lou Lawson, and Uncle Oscar Rayford, and a host of Nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
