Horace ''Buddy'' Johnson, Jr., age 86 of Monticello, AR, passed away
Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his home in Monticello surrounded by
his family. He was born May 3, 1935, in Drew County, AR to the late
Horace Davis Johnson and Ola Mae Bostian Johnson. Buddy was a
devout Christian at Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church where he has
received the perfect Sunday School attendance pin for the last 38
years. He loved the fellowship that came with the men's breakfast at
the church. He loved anything outdoors and spent his retirement
from the University of Arkansas at Monticello's Maintenance
department on the tractor or doing yard work. Buddy loved fourwheel riding with his kids and grandkids and teaching them
everything he knew about turning wrenches and mechanic work. He
was very gifted as a mechanic. He also loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Wright and Geneva Burton; a brother Otis Reed; and
a niece, Vicki Moore.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Dye Johnson of Monticello; two sons Johnny Johnson and close
friend Debbie Tenorio and Dave Johnson and wife Vanessa; five grandchildren, Leah and husband Aubrey Nixon,
Joshua and wife Brittney Johnson, Tiffany and husband Keith Booker, Sariya and husband Micah Lane, and
Emiley Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Carson, Dustin, Cooper, Alivia, Colton, Tristin, Caroline, Holt, and
Paisley; two sisters-in-law, Jean Carr and Mary Wallace of Monticello; brother-in-law, Winfred Dye of Monticello;
nephew, Cecil Reed of Monticello; niece, Cathy Curtis of Monticello; special great-niece, Kelly and husband,
Thomas Burnett; great-nephew, Jason Moore and his children, Austin Moore, and Madelin Wood; as well as a host
of other family and friends.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. in Andrews Chapel
Cemetery, Barkada Rd, Wilmar, AR with Rev. Dwayne Roper officiating. Visitation will be in the cemetery from
