Homer Arlington "Arlin" Thrift, Jr., 87, of Lavaca, Arkansas, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at his home. He was born on January 13, 1935, in Van Buren, Arkansas, to the late Homer Arlington Thrift, Sr. and Eva Leona (Green) Thrift. He was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Wildman, and two brothers, Wilburn and Mark Thrift.

Arlin was a United States Air Force veteran, where he served 20 years. He was owner and operator of Arlin Thrift Real Estate and Construction Company in Van Buren. He enjoyed various hobbies including fishing and hunting. He also loved traveling with his family and enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren in their sports. He was a Member of the Nazarene Church for over 40 years.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Ronnie Allen officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Eubanks Cemetery, located west of Cecil, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Shirley (Newton) Thrift; a daughter, Sharon Akers of Lavaca; three sons, Stan Thrift of Lavaca, Troy Thrift of Ozark, and Paul Thrift and wife Katherine of Alma; a sister, Elva Cox of Van Buren; a brother, Ray Thrift and wife Sue of Alma; eight grandchildren, Megan And Cody Fox, Garrett Thrift, VJ and Mikaela Akers, Chris Akers, Jordan Akers, Sara and Jim Reid, Ethan Thrift, Zoe Thrift; and ten great-grandchildren, Casey Fox, Macy Fox, Easton Fox, Cam Fox, Brooklyn Akers, Carson Akers, Emersyn Akers, Madilyn Reid, Clayton Reid, Aiden Akers.

Pallbearers are V.J. Akers, Chris Akers, Jordan Akers, Cody Fox, Garrett Thrift, and Ethan Thrift.
