Rev. Wilton Junior Baines, 59 of Monticello, AR, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born on December 25, 1953 in Dermott, Arkansas to George William and Annie Phillips Baines. He had resided in Monticello for the past 35 years. He was the pastor of Hunters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Crossett, was a mason and was a multi-level marketer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George William and Annie Phillips Baines, and one brother, James Baines. Rev. Baines attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas Monticello with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He also attended the United Theological Seminary. In 2003, he was ordained to proclaim God’s Holy Word and in 2004 he became the Pastor of Hunters Chapel where he remained the faithful Pastor until his passing. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Jacqueline Thompson Baines, three sons: Wilton Antonio Baines, wife Krystal, Michael James Baines all of Monticello, AR, Rickey Mortez Baines of Lawrenceville, GA, one daughter, Shalonda Patrice Smith of Jonesboro, AR, three sisters: Jewelene Jones of Dermot, AR, Margaret Lathan, husband Arvell of Kileen, TX and Darlene Porter of Houston, TX, nine grandchildren, Wilton A’Zion Baines, Konstance Elizabeth Baines, Brandon Lee Baines, Shekinah Destiney Baines, Rickey Baines, Jr., Detria Monique Baines, Alexis Shontel Moore, Qualondon Malik Smith & Shania Smith all of Monticello, AR, one great grandson, Kylen Block, a special nephew, Bobby Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Friday, July 18, 2014 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Blvd. in Crossett with Rev. Curtis Jackson, officiating. Active pallbearers are James Martin, Ray Martin, Lee Fred Brown, Tommy Moore, Jimmy Horn, Dionysius Anderson, Walter Jordan & Tramaine Richardson. Honorary pallbearers are the Crossett Ministerial Alliance and the Officers and Members of Hunters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial in Brooks Chapel Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
Visitation Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home.
