STURDIVAN, John Truman - After an illness of eight days John Sturdivan died at Cave Springs at the residence of his daughter. He was just recovering from an attack of grippe when pneumonia, with other complications, set in. The attack was so severe that the best of medical skill and nursing could not ease him and he passed away February 5th at 11 a.m. Mr. Sturdivan was widely known and respected throughout Washington and Benton counties. He was a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church at Oak Grove and a member of the I.O.O.F. at Elm Springs. The interment took place at Elm Springs and was conducted by the I.O.O.F. at that place, assisted by representatives from surrounding lodges. John Truman Sturdivan was born in Rock Island County, Illinois in 1845. He was left an orphan at an early age and went to Iowa to reside with his sister while he became of age. He removed with his family to Springdale in March 1906. He purchased a farm in the Oak Grove neighborhood where he lived until his death. The deceased leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his loss. The friends have arranged for a funeral sermon to be preached the fourth Sunday at the Oak Grove Baptist church. The services to be conducted by Eld. Loving of Fayetteville.
