Faye June Tanksley of Huntsville passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, in her home
surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Scotland, Ark., to Rhea and Edgar Lindsey and was the youngest of four siblings.

Faye was married for 67 years to the love of her life, Leo Tanksley. The two corresponded while Leo was stationed in Korea and married in 1954 when he returned from the Korean War. They moved often between Michigan, Missouri and Arkansas, living in over 20 homes together before settling in Springdale in 1970. They then retired to Huntsville in 2000, where they shared many memorable creek-side moments with their grandchildren.

Faye was well-known for her poetry, and wrote poems for her faultily and friends to mark many special occasions in their lives. Her grandkids will tell you she made the best chicken nuggets and milkshakes, and everyone loved her layered salad. She was a loving wife, wonderful mom and mother-in-law, and the perfect grandma.

She was active in her church community and attended Brush Creek Baptist Church in Springdale and Calvary Baptist Church in Huntsville.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Jack Lindsey, Joyce Mensinger, and Lois Smith; and her cousin Gwen Elsner.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Tanksley; three children, Linda Maestri and husband, Les, of Tontitown, Mitchell Tanksley and wife, Cris, of Huntsville, and Tami Toler and husband, Robert, of Savannah, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Brannon Pack, Roxie Olsen, Misty Harriman, Lindsey Maestri, Heather Hooper, Katie Drake, Falyn Tanksley, Candice Anderson, Cara Leto, Kelly Johnson, David Henson, Dakoda Tanksley and Mariah Fairley; 25 great-grandchildren, Destiny, Alison, Bailey, Isaiah, McKinley, Kayla, Makenna, Kamryn, Owen, Taylor, Briceson, EveyLynn June, Wyatt Blake, Jaylyn, Charli Jo, Ethan, Jackson, Tinley June, Kylor, Blaine, Claira, Malachi, Brock, Jackson and Poppie; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nova and Oakleigh.

Funeral services will he held Friday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at the Sisco Funeral Chapel.
