George Van O’Brien, 83, of McRae died Friday, January 28, 2022 at his home. He was born November 17, 1938 in Pecos, Texas to the late Ellis H. “Pat” and Mary Virgie (Carr) O’Brien. Mr. O’Brien was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Searcy. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was an avid bridge player, a creative writer and had been employed as a computer programmer for several companies through the years.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary O’Brien; granddaughter, Caitlyn O’Brien both of McRae; a brother, Truman O’Brien of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorene O’Brien; son, John Patrick O’Brien and a brother, Lyle Lynn O’Brien.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Weir Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Searcy. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
