George A. Brockwell Passes Away Friday

George A. Brockwell, 74, well known citizen of Brockwell, in which vicinity he had resided for about 50 years, died at his home Friday. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Brockwell was a native of Tennessee, coming to Izard County in his youth. He was in the mercantile business at Newburg several years and when the Batesville-Mammoth Spring highway was built twenty years ago he established the first store in the town which was named for him.

Deceased is survived by his wife; two sons, Thomas and Amos of Brockwell and three daughters, Mrs. Mamie Roddy, Mrs. Odie Largent of Brockwell and Mrs. Mary Stoner, Calico Rock.

Brockwell Early Settler is Buried this week

Mrs Blanche Brockwell, who with her husband, founded the town which bears her name died Saturday at the age of 71. Her funeral took place Monday afternoon at the Slogo Cemetery with Bro. W. C. Stuart in charge.

Mrs. Brockwell is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Mary Conner, Calico Rock, Mrs. Mamie Roddy, Washington State, and 2 sons, Thomas and Amos Brockwell of Brockwell.

Mrs. Brockwell Dies Saturday at Age of 71

Mrs. Lena Blanche Rogers Brockwell, highly respected and well known resident of Brockwell, died at her home at that place, Saturday following several weeks illness. She was a life-long resident of Izard County. She was 71 years of age.

Mrs. Brockwell was born and reared near Oxford. In 1900 she was married to Geo. W. Brockwell, who preceded her in death by several years. The town of Brockwell which was built some 28 years ago, after completion of the Batesville Mammoth Spring highway was named for the husband of Mrs. Brockwell.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mamie Roddy of Wenatchee, Wash., Mrs. Odie Largent of Brockwell and Mrs. Mary Conner of Calico Rock; two sons, Amos and Thomas Brockwell of Brockwell; six grandchildren, two great-grandchild, two sisters and one brother.
