BELLA VISTA — Meryl W. Tinklenberg of Bella Vista, Ark., joined his wife, Joyce, in heaven on June 29, 2012. He was born on May 26, 1923, in Rock County, Minn.
He was raised in Pipestone, Minn., and was a decorated soldier of the 101st Airborne Division, who parachuted into many areas in WWII. He was wounded in battle and received two Purple Hearts. He returned home at the end or the war in 1945 and married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Peterson.
They resided in St. Paul, Minn., until October 1985, when they moved to Bella Vista, Ark., to enjoy their retirement. Meryl enjoyed playing golf, snooker, woodworking, and their wonderful neighbors and friends for the last 27 years they lived in Bella Vista, Ark. He was a member of the Community Church in Bella Vista.
Meryl was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Charley and Katherine; and brothers, Elmer and John "Mel" Tinklenberg.
He will be greatly missed by his two children, James Tinklenberg and Cynthia Rowan (Terry); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be at the Bella Vista Community Church Thursday, July 26, 2012, at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the Bella Vista Community
Church.
