James Edward Downum, age 80, passed from this life in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 25, 2017. He is now joining those who preceded him in death, including his daughter, Jamie Downum, grandson, Jacob Cargile, his parents, William Lester and Cora Jane Downum and his siblings, Max Downum, Ellis Downum, Bobby Downum, and JM Downum, Cecil Downum, Reba Pradziad, Jo Dean Clark and Wayne Downum.

James was a lifelong friend and member of the Springdale Community, as well as a mason. Beginning his career at 13 years old, James became a truck driver, working for Willis Shaw, Jones Truck Lines, Barnes Trucking and others. Later, he and Della became partners of Della Trucking, travelling the US together for 17 years prior to retirement. During his life, he enjoyed racing, especially go-carts. With the help of his friend/mechanic, Gene Smith, James continued this passion of racing until recently.

James is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Della Louise Downum; his son, Bradley Downum; two daughters by choice, Annalisa Roth and Nerissa Camp; his grandchildren, Jamie Parrott, Utah McGlocklin, Sierra White, Conner Camp, Zanna Camp and Tyler Downum; three great-grandsons, James Parrott, AJ Parrott and Braydon White; and his older brother, Tommy Downum.
