Etha Charlene "Chucky" Ragsdale, age 84, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died quietly in her home on Thursday, May 3, 2012. Etha was born March 7, 1928 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Lev and Beulah McCown. She retired after working more than thirty years for the Brierwood Shoe Corporation in DeWitt, Arkansas. Etha loved fishing with a cane pole, hunting for marbles, and playing shanghai rummy. Etha suffered a stoke in 2000 and moved to Texarkana to live with her son Keith and his wife Judy. During her life, Etha lived in several cities in both Texas and Arkansas; she even lived for a time in Cotswold Village, England. Etha lived the majority of her life in DeWitt, Arkansas, where she worked as a shipping clerk in the DeWitt Shoe Factory. She was a lifelong Christian and a faithful part of the Methodist Church. Her father was a Lay Minister in the Methodist Church and her brother, Burris, was an ordained Methodist Minister. Etha was preceded in death by her parents, Lev and Beulah McCown, her two brothers, Burris and Harlan Ray McCown, and one granddaughter, Shanna Eckles. She is survived by her only sister, Evelyn Martin of Bowie, Texas, her son Keith and his wife Judy of Texarkana, Arkansas, her son Ken and his wife Sharon of Hot Springs, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Jason Barr of Richardson, Texas, K. C. Barr of Texarkana, Texas, and Josh Barr of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Crestview Memorial Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas, with Keith Barr officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texarkana, Arkansas.
