Carlos "Carl" Henry Larkin of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Blanche Larkin; and his wife of 50 years, Dolores Nancy Larkin.

He is survived by daughters, Donna Larkin of Sherwood, AR and Kathie Larkin Turner (Craig) of Redlands, CA; brothers Calvin Larkin (Joan) and Lawrence Larkin of New Jersey; plus several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Kathy Moore.

Carl was previously employed as an engineer by various companies including but not limited to Prestolite Wire and Cable in Paragould, AR; Reynolds Metals in Hot Springs, AR; Kaiser in Portsmouth, RI; Okonite Company in Richmond, KY; RCA in Woodbridge, NJ, and Tung-Sol Electric in Bloomfield, NJ. He worked until the age of 77, when he retired to become caregiver to his wife.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, plus a Master of Science degree in Management from Newark College of Engineering in Newark, New Jersey. Carl served in the U. S. Navy from 1946-1948 and was honorably discharged after his father passed. In addition, he served in the Air Force Reserve from 1952-1955 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Second Lieutenant. Later, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve under the Cross Service Program, where he served from 1974-1976.

Carl was an exceptionally intelligent person and diligent worker, always learning of the latest engineering developments that could improve the performance output of each company for which he worked. He was very generous to individuals and charities and enjoyed giving special surprises to family and friends. After raising his children, Carl began the second half of his life by traveling with Dolores and taking her dancing at the Elks every Friday night. Carl had a wonderful sense of humor and all who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember him with a smile.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church, and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks #380 in Hot Springs.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. in Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. A Catholic Mass will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church with Father Alan Rosenau officiating. Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park in Hot Springs, AR.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church, 100 Central Ave., Hot Springs, AR 71901.

The family is grateful for the care given by the doctors and nurses of St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center and his caregiver, Kelly from Home Instead, as well as special friendships with neighbors Gene and Jack Barrett and Arnie Dunlap.
